Andre graduated in Environmental Engineering from the President Antonio Carlos University, Brazil in 2017.
This interdisciplinary degree focused on many environmental topics such as EIA, soil mechanics, materials technology, environmental legislation, hydraulics, hydrology, environmental geotechnics, and water and wastewater treatment.
As part of his final year thesis, Andre undertook a project in collaboration with a soil’s laboratory at the Federal University of Viçosa and a waste water treatment plant that provided sludge that later was treated with Lime for the soil’s PH correction, the sludge was used as a fertiliser for growing corn and breu (Protium heptaphyllum). Both samples were compared with an industrial fertiliser to check the final results. The research was carried out in accordance with the Waste Management (Use of Sewage Sludge in Agriculture) Regulations, 1998 and the Waste Management (Use of Sewage Sludge in Agriculture) Regulations, 2001.
In 2019 Andre finished his Post graduate higher diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from the Pitagoras University in Brazil, and his final project was about analysing the effects of the Benzine’s exposure in a human body above the exposure limit and techniques to reduce the risk.
He joined Boylan Consulting as an Environmental Health Officer and is currently involved in environmental monitoring and general support in the health and safety side. Andre is eager to learn, where he will be contributing to the team as an Environmental Health Officer.
